Romeo and Juliet

“Here’s much to do with hate, but more with love.”

Shakespeare’s classic exploration of teenage love and violence is transformed in a vibrant new production set against an epic northern landscape.

A brutal and long standing feud between two families, the Capulets and the Montagues, is reignited in the stifling heat of a long hot summer – the air fills with rage and torment as a new generation takes up their parents’ hostilities.

But out of the violence grows a seed of hope, born of a single stolen moment between two star crossed lovers from either side of the conflict. Their forbidden love as strong as their parents’ hate. Yet fate dictates their future and violent riots lead to fatal consequences.

A powerful portrayal of one of the greatest love stories ever told.
